Streaming and sharing utopia

“Property is theft” said Proudhon, a French anarchist from the 18th century
(I think). Awesome line.

I guess he means we should all share it.

When I read that line I had far fewer CDs than I wanted and couldn’t
imagine sitting in a fancy car.

Now we all can have it all. Kind of a funny result of technology.

Virtually all digitized goods are unlimited and for rent (or will be soon).
No more “rich man’s collection”.

And increasingly all physical goods are for rent via sharing, thanks to the
coordination magic of marketplaces. Fancy house, fancy car, fancy couture
— Airbnb, Uber, Rent the Runway, etc.

You still need money. But less. Communities utopia is upon us. Not
anarchist at all.
