Amazing super long piece in the NYer about Obama that’s half a book.
For all the complaining on both sides the world in 2014 is
– fewer conflicts than ever
– more growth than in years
– more stable economies than in years
– fewer poor than in generations
Things are going amazingly smoothly, and it makes Obama look like he’s just
minding the store doesn’t it? No Civil War, no Nazis, no Russians.
Prediction: if nothing happens, Obama will have a Clinton-like
post-presidency as a super popular icon of the good old days. If something
happens, we’ll see a (second) superman moment and historians will get
something interesting to dive into.
I think we should be rooting for “nothing”.
