There is an employee type. They are VPs of engineering or heads of sales or something. They meet, give you a vague no-next-steps send off. They are In demand and want to play the important role. They think this is what CEOs do when they meet. Since why would peers give each other assignments? But really they are just waiting for an offer.
The reality is when you meet other founders it is all action. Introductions to investors, hires, peers, competitors, customers, angel deals. Questions asked to solve problems. Advice on key topics. Tasks. When I meet other founders I find them demanding. These guys are not chilling out. They are planning world domination.
So when you want to act like a founder, be about action. Make a list of next steps. Then write twenty emails following up on it all.
