The NYTM is the biggest.
At dinner with one of the founders I found out one ingredient in how it got so big.
I already knew it was “the first meetup” founded by the founder of Meetup.com.
And I knew he and friends are super connected.
And I knew that that combination brought some sensational companies to the meetup early — Vimeo, Delicious.
What I did not know is that they prioritized inclusion (“big”) over curation (“elite”).
Bigger venues, fees to cover them, more famous and mature companies on stage. From start, to huge.
(At FoundersRoundtable we have always made the top focus the peer level discussion. And we rarely do meetings over 50 people.)
